POLITICAL ASSEMBLY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HERAULT The 18th of June 2012 the Assembly of the Department of Hérault will meet in order to examine many issues among which the COASTANCE project's results: the Deputy President Mme Pétard will perform a special communication on the project in relation to the Climate Plan of Hérault and the extreme vulnerability of its littorals considering the CC effects as sea level rise. During this communication, the signature of the Final Declaration of Komotini by the legal representative of the Department of Hérault will be officially demanded.

COASTANCE FINAL CONFERENCE IN CROATIA In the framework of Croatian activities of COASTANCE project, on 15th of March in Dubrovnik a Final Conference with the presence of several international speakers and regional stakeholders was held. Agenda The conference was attended by the Lead Partner representative, Vasilis Lepidas from REMTH, Marina Marković from PAP/RAC Center from Split and sevaral representatives from Public Enterprise for coastal management from Montenegro who were also speakers to the conference. COASTANCE TECHNICAL SEMINAR in ROME 26th-27th January
The Coastance Technical Seminar in Rome (at the ISPRA offices in Viale Vitaliano Brancati 48) was held last 26th and 27th January to share and review COASTANCE main issues in depth. Nine partners representing Mediterranean coastal Administrations from France, Italy, Spain, Greece and Cyprus made an overview on the issues addressed with the scientific contribution of a number of eminent Universities and Institutes, including ISPRA (High Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) - which kindly hosted this Technical Seminar. The seminar was opened by the ISPRA Director for Impacts Mitigation and Prevention Department, Mr Massimo Gabellini, the Coastance lead partner, Mr Christos Partsias representing REMTH region, and Mr Paolo Lupino, Lazio Region. The COASTANCE Technical Seminar was scheduled in 2 days and divided into 4 sessions: (1) Mediterranean coastal planning: clustering opportunities and perspectives for 2014-2020; (2) Component 5: Guidelines for Environmental Impact Studies focused on coastal protection works and plans; (3) Component 3 - Coastal risks : Submersion and Erosion; (4) Component 4: Territorial action plans for coastal protection management. A particular focus was dedicated to the presentation of the recently established cluster FACEcoast (four European projects already joined with more than 70 partners involved). This cluster intends to capitalise the best results on coastal integrated management and the groundwork, in order to carry out a wider action in the context of the new European financial programming period 2014-2020. MAINSTREAMING ACTIVITIES IN LAZIO REGION Lazio Region, with the technical support of ISPRA, at the presence of the officer of the Regional Area for EIA & SEA, met the officers of the Italian Ministry of Environment-EIA/VAS Department on the 16th of February 2012 at the Region Lazio headquarter in Rome, in order to preliminarily evaluate the possible agreement of the National Administration on the approach and contents of COASTANCE Guidelines, besides evaluating the tools and spaces for the widest diffusion of the Guidelines themselves (i.e. publication on the Ministry website, publication on the Lazio Region website). A letter will be sent to the Director of the EIA/VAS Department of the Italian Ministry of Environment with the official request of sharing and agreement on the COASTANCE Guidelines.
